It's a workable mechanic, though. Collectibles could be tracked independently from game progress, which would mean you could re-play cases to 100% the game.

i think the whole "this is not like gta and red dead redemption" vibe Rockstar and Team bondi are giving is a hint that when the story ends the free roam ends and you have to start over, its free roam but its also kind of linear....like someone allready suggested i think when the story ends the credits will roll and take you the the start menu....just my opinons

I think we'll be able to free roam. I think they were referencing the fact that you can't go around killing people and destroying property just because you want to.

After the gameplay - can't you just cruise around town, do the random encounters and that's it?

Honestly, I would like nothing more then just looking at the entire scenery - driving past burned down buildings and what not and thinking "Oh yeah, I remember this".

Its obvious isn't it ? You still have to collect all cars, newspapers, film reels, the random street cases you will come across, you still have all that to do. Arn't there other threads on this as well ?

I wouldn't even need anything to enjoy this game. Just the story and the city would be enough to sustain me for at least a 1-2 months.

As I said before, collectibles and unassigned cases could be completed by re-playing cases and be tracked separately from storyline/case progress.

Also, this thread was started in March, so it's one of the originals.

Who really needs an answer tho ? Its obvious, you think R* would give us all this stuff to collect only during the game and not after all our cases are complete, that would suck big time.

That's more or less the point of a linear game, you have freedom to a certain level - which is the storyline.

If I recall correctly, you could 'collect' playboy-magazines in Mafia II, only during the storyline itself because the only thing you had after the story were credits.


In other words; no it's not obvious because it happened in other games as well - Rockstar hasn't said anything about it, other then "that it's nothing like Grand Theft Auto 4 and Red Dead Redemption, so instead of saying "It's obvious cuz..." come with links, facts and details - don't assume anything yet.

Also; I would like to see a still playable world after you finished the game, but if it's not there - so be it, enough other things to like about it.

Yes but RDR lets you roam outside of missions which LAN does not, at least not during the story.
