However, if you would take an average Dutch city, like mine..
You will see that most streets, especially those with houses.. which I was talking about, aren't as crowded as streets in video games are.

Now, if you'd visit the road in that same city, ofcourse there are cars. Plenty of 'em. I wasn't saying that our cities are completely empty. But the streets.. where people live.. are.

Just completely random - you do know that this story is in Downtown Los Angeles, just after the war. What was it, third largest city in the USA back then? I don't think it should be completely barren.

Concerning the "Free Roam" i felt that the cases was too important to go sightseeing around L.A. They could have added a freeroam mode between cases, for instance, after a case was solved, the game could ask: Do you want to explore the city? Press yes and you get freeroam, press no and you start the next case. With Phelps high moral standard i felt that i couldn't go freeroaming at all. Would break the game for me.

you don't have to freeroam during the story proper. you can play through the story then go back and do freeroam missions.

but i think it's a design flaw. the freeroam should be different from the game and you should be able to wear the police uniform. detectives still have to walk the beat from time to time either as penance for failure or to learn the streets.
