Problem with launching
Hi, I've got I serious problem with L.A. Noire for PC. When I'm trying to launch the game it's only written "Rockstar Presents L.A. Noire" and the game stops. I can't do nothing, only restart my computer. What should do?

Problem fixed. I've just had to install new programmers.

RE: Problem with launching
Bought Russian DVD version of LAN a week ago, since when I have failed to get it to launch. I've searched all the sites associated with this problem but still it doesn't launch.
My rig is a brand new gaming computer with 4 HDDs, OS Windows 7 Elite 64 bit, video driver NVidia GeForce GTX570. I've done all the things advised on other sites: reinstalled the video driver, no spaces (c:\lanoire) in the game home registry etc., etc. The crazy thing is that on my workaday PC the game works fine. But that PC is a Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit one. It has the same video driver as my gaming computer though, namely Nvidia 285.62. At first I couldn't launch the game on the other PC and then I found out that naming the home registry lanoire got everything up and running. So why hasn't the same happened with this 64 bit gaming computer of mine? Hopefully this problem will be resolved in the not too distant future. |

RE: Problem with launching
In a similar vein, I can't connect to the Social Club. I enter my e-mail and password and click the sign in button, but nothing happens.
If I try to make a new account the window says 'No Connection'. I don't want to start the game in offline, then start again in a better online account. |

I had the problem where lanlauncher.exe would not start. I did all the stuff I could find on the net to no avail. I'm running Windows 7 and Directx 11 was already loaded before I installed la noire. So then I decided to install the directx version that was included in the game distribution (I purchased and downloaded the game from Amazon). After installing that version of directx (9c), I ran dxdiag.exe and it still showed directx 11. Strange, but la noire ran perfectly after that. |

RE: Problem with launching
I also have had trouble, in fact only recently launching this game (win 7 64). I am using the steam version and managed to get it running by doing this:
*Went the c:\steam\steamapps\common\la noire folder *Right clicked lanoire.exe set read only to OFF (not sure why it was set that way) and set to run as admin *Also set ypatcher.exe to run as admin *Started game by right clicking la noire.exe run as admin Then it worked. But this seems far from a real fix. You might try and and see if it provides you any success. |

I am running Win 7 (64) and couldn't launch. It was a NVIDIA video card issue. Then I read about changing a dll file in the folder c:\Program Files(86)\NVIDIA Corporation\coprocmanager. I found an older version (8.17.12.6099) of the "Nvd3d9wrap.dll" and tried it. Game works perfectly. So in order to accommodate this I made 2 sub-folders in the "NVIDIA Corporation\coprocmanager" folder: "Old game dll" and "Present dll". I copy the old version in before playing La NOire and then replace it with new version once I finish. It's a bit inconvenient, but I can live with it. |

RE: Problem with Social Club
This game is a pain in the ass! Rockstar should be sued. I have done a 1000 changes and now it tells me "SC1: Missing dll. Please reinstall Social Club. (info: socialclub.dll)". When I try to do that it states that a newer version is already installed. Even when I uninstall LA and delete everything, it still shows this stupid response - newer version.
I have never encountered such a buggy game. |

It has been all over the place....it actually went farther but there was no menu. The very first time it didn't even start. Now it just does what it did to you. What can I do. And should it be running through steam...I don't think mine does. |

RE: Problem with launching
Hi,
Maybe you already figure it out. Anyway, I have waste the last week trying to get this game working. I received all the error messages that you have posted. At the end, if you have issues trying to patch the game, try this: 1 - Uninstall the Game 2 - Erase the content of this folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockstar Games or this one: C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games 3 - Restart your pc 4 - Reinstall the game. 5 - After running the game for the first time it will download the latest patch and wil try to apply it. 5a - The game will need to be restarted. 6 - Restart the game 6a - The game updater might try to download the latest "club" patch. 6b - if after applying the "club" patch, your game doesn't start then run the game as "administrator". 6c - I agree, this game shouldn't require those permissions, it is a security risk. Just FYI, I had to run some MD5 checksum validations against the setup files in order to discard those files were corrupted. What a nightmare! ![]() Good Luck.

RE: Problem with launching
i tried to make a new thread but it says i dont have permission..
i bought the steam version and the rockstar autoupdater gives me an NSIS error when it needs to install the mandatory patch. ![]() if i start the game in offline mode i just get kicked out saying that i need to exit and install the patch. i sent support quests to both rockstar and steam 4 days ago and while waiting for their replies i've searched the internet with ways to fix this problem with no luck.. anyone have any ideas? i'd greatly appreciate it.. i've yet to play the game and i doubt valve would let me return it.. |
