Finally someone is talking some sense... Ryan was innocent in my eyes! how does it hold up in court that Varley was just "holding" the mosquito coils for ryan... all evidence was pointing to Varley, and the housing development link wtf .. and he working on the house that burnt down .. wtf. i was shocked when i found out i charged the wrong guy.

does it make any difference at all if i replay the case from the case menu at the title screen ? after you replay a case does the game continue from there or does it just jump back to your old 'failed' save game ?

If you replay a case, you'll get back to the title screen when you finish it, if I recall correctly.

Yeah,it happened me once.It was the last case I need with 5-star rating to go 100% but,had to replay it.

Agreed. Varley has motive, can be placed at the crime scene, is wanted for murder, and has the mosquito coil, but the captain yells at you for not having a good case. So nothing but circumstantial pamphlets and nothing else are supposed to be the right choice? Total crap.

I felt the same way, sometimes I can't tell with this game if they want you to go with your real instinct or what would make sense for the time/place/story even if it's not the right choice. Wtf? All of the physical evidence points to Varley. I had to start this one over to get it right and still felt like it was the totally wrong way to end it when I 5 starred it. :/

Uhm, I think they were both Arsonists. Ryan had motive too, he lost his family becouse of the Model 70 heaters. I think you have to charge Ryan becouse you can only charge one of them, and Varley is going to prison anyway + In the 40's the people's mind was full of anti-communist propaganda, wich explains why the chief is outraged when you charge Varley.
But I really don't know why does the game give only 2 stars for Varley. After all, they commited the same crimes, no?
