Problem with Gas Man Case

I was playing the gas man case everythings going fine until I go to check out guliver's travels. I talk to the agent he gives me the book I look in find the two families names I then exit out and I try to talk to the agent again and it won't let me talk to him. So I walk around thinking maybe I have to do something but nothing happens. So I try to leave and I can't. So I exit the game and load it up again. I end up outside guliver's travels I go in still can't talk to the agent but the book is still lying on the desk. I try the door again I can leave. So I just go to the police station since I already have my two suspects I interview Ryan first. I finish and I really think it's him but I want to interview varlegy before I make my descion. So I go interrogate him and after I'm done I'm convinced it's Ryan so I go back to his room and I try to charge him but it won't let me. So I walk around a bit hoping it will change nothing and I end up having to charge varley.

i had to charge varley too and i didnt want to then my boss shouts at me for sending the wrong guy to prison i figuered it was part of the game and i just carried on with the next case

happened to me to you just have to interrogate varley first or at least thats what i did then ryan and charge him at the end of the interview.

Yeah I just did this, it forced me to charge Varley even though I think Ryan was the arsonist.

I thought it was Varley because the way I saw it was, why would a corporate anarchist be in league with Suburban Development when everything pointed to the whole thing being some big scheme. I figured Varley was already running from a murder charge in Detroit, so taking kickbacks from the scheme would be no big deal for him. Why would Ryan essentially murder an innocent family for a political agenda?

That's why when they said I got the wrong guy I thought it made no sense.

I completely agree. Varley can be placed at the scene. He has a motive. He's already wanted for murder. Ryan's entire family was killed in a fire because of a different company, so we're supposed to believe that'd set him off to kill other families and he'd be mad at the current company because they bought out the actual one he blames? Makes no sense whatsoever. Very poor writing. I wonder why so many want to pin it on him? The game's claim that the evidence is thin is crap. Then there's the mosquito repellent on top of it all. What was the whole thing at the fire dept. about then. This game is screwed up.
