Influenced by "Hollywoodland"? - APrymez - 07-18-2011 05:17 PM There's a 2006 movie called Hollywoodland. Judging from its trailer, it looks like L.A. Noire may have been influenced by it at least a little. For more information about Hollywoodland, visit: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0427969/ RE: Influenced by "Hollywoodland"? - Nem Wan - 07-20-2011 03:00 PM I don't think there's much relation to L.A. Noire because the film involves the death of George Reeves in 1959, and his stardom in the Superman TV series that began in 1952. The film was intended to be titled Truth, Justice, and the American Way but the owners of Superman prohibited Superman references in advertising this film. The HOLLYWOODLAND sign in L.A. Noire's 1947 is historical and no relation, although in reality the sign that year read OLLYWOODLAND because the H had been destroyed by a drunk driver years before. The sign was not repaired until 1949, which is when the sign was shortened to HOLLYWOOD.
